Talk2Me is a practice-based research project in interaction design that aims to explore a solution to bridge communication gap between Deaf/Hard of Hearing and hearing people. The practical outcome of Talk2Me is
a smartphone app designed to bridge face-to-face communication gap between Deaf/Hard of Hearing and hearing people.
Talk2Me is a smartphone app that can be used to bridge the face-to-face communication gap between deaf/hard of hearing and hearing people. It provides a specific feature—Rotating to Show Messages—to conduct physical interaction with nonverbal messages such eye contact and facial expressions into communication. Because physical interaction with nonverbal messages is the most significant part of face-to-face communication and it is the main difference between computer-mediated communication and face-to-face communication.
Talk2Me also provides various ways of inputting messages for facilitating communication (e.g. predictive
text typing, emoticons, stored messages and voice recognition) and a specific mode for the elderly.
